Can liberal democracy be defended by cutting liberal values? German authorities go to war against the Russian state channel RT, formerly known as Russia Today. Its German version reaches widely online, but is refused to broadcast via satellite in the country.
Officially, this is a dispute over licenses. German authorities say that RT does not have a German license. The Russians point out that RT has a Serbian license and thus the right to broadcast in Europe. Last words are hardly said about the law.
