Paris: a new symbolic development in the Square Samuel Paty

Less than a month after the degradation of the plaque in homage to Samuel Paty, in the square which now bears his name in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, a new symbolic arrangement will be installed there this Monday, January 17.

And this new development will be vegetal, since five trees will be planted this Monday at 11 a.m. in the square Samuel Paty (5th), in tribute to the professor assassinated on October 16, 2020 in front of his college in Conflans-Saint-Honorine (78), thus announced the cabinet of the mayor of the 5th, Florence Berthout.

The elected will be accompanied by the rector of the Academy of Paris and Chancellor of the universities, Christophe Kerrero, and four children educated in schools in the district located near the Sorbonne. Together, they will therefore plant five trees, including an oak and a ginkgo biloba.

Other small Parisian pupils from the Sommerard nursery school and the elementary school at 28 rue Saint-Jacques, neighboring the square, will also be present. As a reminder, Square Samuel Paty was inaugurated on October 16, 2021, one year to the day after the attack in Conflans-Saint-Honorine (78).
