The announcement of his death on Wednesday is a shock. Actor Gaspard Ulliel, only 37 years old, died on Wednesday at the Grenoble University Hospital. He returned there late Tuesday afternoon, unconscious and seriously injured after a skiing accident on the slopes of La Rosière, in Savoie.

Despite his young age, Gaspard Ulliel had distinguished himself through several major roles and interpretations, and had been awarded two Césars. During an eclectic career, he had toured alongside big names in French cinema, such as Isabelle Huppert and Gérard Depardieu.

A long engagement Sunday and a Cesar of the best hope for his role
A year later, Gaspard Ulliel enters a little more into the landscape of French cinema. He plays Manech Langonnet, known as “The blueberry”, a soldier left for dead during the First World War, in A long engagement Sunday, a film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. A film with a five-star cast since the actor gives the reply to Marion Cotillard, Audrey Tautou, Clovis Cornillac or even Jodie Foster.
For the third year in a row, Gaspard Ulliel was named among the best male hopefuls at the Césars, and he was finally crowned for this role, in 2005.
In 2014, he impressed for his interpretation of Yves Saint Laurent

Consecration to the Césars for his role in Just the end of the world
Having become a leading actor, who went on filming, played opposite Isabelle Huppert and toured the United States, he took on a new dimension for his role in Just the end of the world by Quebec prodigy Xavier Dolan. He embodies a writer who, after twelve years of absence, comes to announce to his family that he is going to die.
It is thanks to this moving role that he won the César for best actor in 2017.
