Paris: what we know about feminicide in the 19th arrondissement

A 28-year-old woman was found dead on Friday January 28 in her apartment in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. His companion, a policeman, is actively sought.

Discovery by the policeman’s colleagues

Coming for a simple “home check” after their colleague was absent from work, the police made a macabre discovery in this apartment on rue David d’Angers, in the 19e district in Paris.

Arrived on the scene, the police discovered the lifeless body of a woman in her twenties in a bathtub. An investigation was subsequently opened for intentional homicide.

The Paris prosecutor’s office delivered its verdict this Sunday morning. The autopsy which took place on Saturday January 29 confirmed the criminal trail.

The medical findings made on this occasion are indeed compatible with the death of the victim by strangulation.

Six months of suspended prison sentence were required against Alexandre Geniez.

actively wanted police officer

To determine the circumstances of the homicide, the police first plan to get their hands on their colleague, actively sought since Friday evening and probably armed with his service weapon. Bearded and with a balding head, the 29-year-old suspect, who joined the police in 2012, is said to be traveling in his vehicle, a white Peugeot 208.

a history of domestic violence

The victim’s companion had already been placed in police custody in October 2019 for violence against his partner at the time. He had then received an alternative to prosecution for domestic violence, assured a judicial source to AFP.

He “had been the subject of a summons for an awareness course on domestic violence”, and, administratively, had been sanctioned with a warning, according to the same source.

He was also the subject of “social follow-up”, provided by psychologists, social workers and prevention doctors.
