Eric Zemmour’s adviser under investigation for rape: “Sometimes #MeToo is just mytho”, he reacts

The director of events for far-right candidate Éric Zemmour (Reconquête!), Olivier Ubéda, is the target of an investigation for rape, opened after a complaint filed in December, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Monday, confirming information from BFMTV.

“Working for Z: 1/ your wife is fired from her job 2/ the tax authorities are overzealous 3/ you are accused of rape… just that. The scenario is screwed up. It’s not based on anything real. The media love it,” said tweeted Olivier Ubéda on Monday after the publication of the BFMTV article. “Wanting to break what works. Dirty to prevent. To vomit. Who is being fooled? Whose turn is it?”, he added.

According to BFMTV, an 18-year-old man who allegedly worked with him as an intern reported allegations of rape that began in the spring of 2021 and continued until the fall, when he filed a complaint.

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that following a complaint filed on December 9, an investigation was opened the next day for rape. The investigations were entrusted to the 1st judicial police district.

He speaks of a slanderous denunciation

“I will only react when I know what and who we are talking about. I see the investigating officer tomorrow (Tuesday, editor’s note). I have not received any written summons. Just a free hearing for a “questioning”. I call that slanderous denunciation. Sometimes #MeToo is just mytho”, he continued on Twitter, some time after his first tweet on the subject. Mr. Ubéda did not immediately respond to AFP’s requests.

Aged 51, Olivier Ubéda appears in the organization chart of Éric Zemmour’s campaign as “director of events”. This communicator is in charge of the organization and the scenography of the meetings, like that of December 5 in Villepinte or that planned for Saturday in Lille. He also does the voiceover for the meetings of the far-right candidate.

He had already ensured the communication of Éric Zemmour during the pre-campaign of the polemicist, around his book “France did not say its last word”. A former member of the UMP, Olivier Ubéda is a well-known figure on the right, for whom he has regularly organized meetings, notably for Nicolas Sarkozy.
