The prerequisite for the Norwegian duo to reach the semi-finals was before today’s second match that they had to beat Switzerland in the very last match, Monday night.

That calculation took into account that Sweden would win its last match, they did not.

– Even with a loss for Switzerland, Norway ends up the same as Sweden. They can not be caught again, and we have beaten Sweden on each other, said Discovery commentator Thoralf Hognestad in the studio after the match.

Reigning world champion Great Britain was the opponent for the Norwegian curling couple in their second match on Sunday.

The duo Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat beat Norway during the World Cup final at home in Scotland last year, but on Chinese ice Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten got their revenge.

The Norwegian duo took the lead early in the match with two points in the first two rounds. The British buttoned up in the third and sixth rounds, but the Norwegians ran away with a millimeter measurement that gave two points in the seventh round.

In the eighth and final round, Skaslien and Nedregotten defended well and the British thanked themselves, with two stones left, as they did not have the opportunity to take the four points they needed.

After the match, the statistics showed that the victory against the British was of the strong kind. In total, the Norwegian duo had a hit rate of 89, while the British duo was down to 74.

Now one obstacle remains for Skaslien and Nedregotten: the nation that took silver during the previous winter games. The Norwegian duo has beaten the Swiss in the last three settlements between the nations. The match will be played at 02.05 on Monday night.

– It will be fun to play another match, when we have the level we have now, Nedregotten told Dplay after the match.
